THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HOSPITALIZATION OF MINOR AGES < 5 WITH THE LEVEL OF ANXIETY OF MOTHERS AT THE PEDIATRICS NURSERY HNGV DÍLI, 2019

Introduction: According to World Health Organization (WHO) being healthy is “a condition that describes good physical, mental and social wellness that is whole and free of diseases”, (Wong, 2009). An unhealthy condition occurs when an individual feels a disruption to the system, experiencing worry and unreasonable anxiety level (Wilson, 2008). Anxiety response from mother is a general feeling encountered by parents when there is health issues faced by their children since children are considered crucial elements in their life therefore when a disturbing experience arises it triggers stress and parents become worried. The anxiety suffered by mothers can be influenced by a number of factors, one of such including hospitalization of their children. Thus, when both parents and children are unable to adapt effectively to the changing environments, it will lead to a source of anxiety for children and parents alike (Supartini, 2004). Research goal: To find out more the relationship between hospitalization of minor children aged <5 with the level of anxiety of mothers at the Pediatrics Nursery HNGV Díli in 2019.Research method: This research utilized the quantitative model of research and cross-sectional proximity approach including the use of technical non-probability sampling with the use of purposive sampling with the sample of 40. The approach taken to collect data in this research is by utilizing questionnaires. Results from the research: Based on the research data from statistical testing that employ Spearman Rank Correlation to acquire the value of p = 0,001 < 0,05 thus H0 is not acceptable. This means that there is direct correlation between hospitalization of minor children aged < 5 with the level of anxiety of mothers at the Pediatrics Nursery HNGV Dili in 2019. The analysis results also indicated correlation value (r) = 0,518 meaning hospitalization impact of children has the chance of 0,518 to make mother feel extremely anxious when their children are hospitalized in the Pediatrics Nursery HNGV thus there showed a positive and strong link between hospitalization of children age < 5 and mothers anxiety level at the Pediatrics Nursery HNGV Díli in 2019 with a value of 0,51 – 0,75 (strong correlation). Conclusion: This is shows that there is direct correlation between hospitalization of minor children aged < 5 with the level of anxiety of mothers at the Pediatrics Nursery Hospital National Guido Valadares Dili in 2019.
